Amrut Kensington Wine Market Jaggery Rum Cask Indian Single Malt Whisky. Photo courtesy Kensington Wine Market. This single cask bottling for the Kensington Wine Market in Calgary, Alberta was matured for 8 years in a cask that previously held Jaggery Rum – a unique style of Indian rum made from sugar cane extract.  The nose has a good balance of oak and molasses, along with brown sugar and subtle spices. The taste is thick and oily with spicy notes of cardamom and allspice, then turns dry and dusty with a touch of oak tannins. The finish lingers gently with a good balance of wood and spices. Thanks to Andrew Ferguson of the Kensington Wine Market for providing this sample. (December, 2019)
