Amrut Greedy Angels Peated Sherry 10YO Whisky. Image courtesy Amrut Distilleries. This was the final Chairman’s Reserve selection by the late Neel Jagdale, the second-generation chairman of family-owned Amrut Distilleries. It spent the first seven years in an Pedro Ximenez Sherry cask before being transferred into two smaller casks – an ex-Bourbon barrel and a 100-litre virgin oak cask – for the final three years of maturation.

The nose has a kiss of smoke along with notes of cherries, caramel candies, hints of white pepper and chili powder, dark fruits, and a touch of oak tannins. The taste is thick, oily, and intensely spicy with chili powder and white pepper balanced by cherry cobbler and a hint of toffee. The finish is long, oaky, and spicy. (June, 2019)
