Longrow (Springbank) Gaja Barolo Finish

Country: Scotland

Region: Campbeltown

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 55.8%

Score: 90 Points

This expression is about 7 years old, and spent the first 5 years in ex-bourbon casks, with the final year and a half in Gaja Barolo wine casks. Longrow is the peated malt from Springbank, and this has a nice mix of smokiness and sweetness on the nose. The taste is chewy and thick, with a bit of sweetness in the form of fig notes and a hint of burnt caramel to go along with a slight saltiness. The finish is long, tingly, and sweet. It’s not for everyone, but it’s a very interesting malt!
