Glenfiddich 40

Country: Scotland

Region: Speyside

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 45.8%

Score: 97 Points

This is the 6th vatting of Glenfiddich 40-year-old, and each vatting uses some whisky from the previous batch. That means there are traces of Glenfiddich from as far back as 1925 in each bottle. The heavy use of Oloroso sherry casks gives this a dark and intense nose with roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, and black cherries. The taste is spicy and intense with notes of espresso, cocoa, dark chocolate, cinnamon and cloves. The finish is full of espresso, almonds, cocoa, and a hint of vanilla.
