House of Hazelwood “A Trail of Smoke”

Housef of Hazelwood

Country: Scotland

Region:

Type: Blended Malt

Bottler: Housef of Hazelwood

ABV: 46.5%

Score: 96 Points

This 42-year-old blended malt comes from Islands whiskies matured in refill hogsheads, and is part of the House of Hazelwood’s Legacy Collection. The nose has notes of caramel apples, garden herbs, grilled citrus fruits, and a subtle peaty character in the background. The taste starts off fruity at first with a slow buildup of smoke and touches of dried flowers, honey, and an herbal touch of rosemary. Smoke curls around the throat on the long finish with touches of dried fruits and garden herbs. Outstanding!
