This is one of the oldest Talisker releases on record, and was finished in casks made from staves that had been rowed across the Atlantic Ocean by explorer James Aiken. The nose has hints of spice, red apples, candle wax, a kiss of smoke, wet beach sand, and a hint of brine. The taste is luscious and well-bodied with touches of red apples, peppercorns, tropical fruits, and a subtle hint of brine in the background. The finish is long and peppery with tropical fruits and a kiss of campfire smoke in the background. Excellent! (September, 2021)
