Lagavulin’s 2021 release for the virtual version of the Islay Festival of Malt & Music spent most of its maturation in refill American Oak casks before being finished in highly charred Port wine casks. The nose is smoky with touches of blackberry pie, plums, fig cookies, and butterscotch. The taste is peaty with dark fruits, a touch of white pepper, blackberries, honey, and butterscotch notes. The finish is long, slightly dry, and subtle with a gentle smokiness and a touch of dark fruits. (September, 2021)

Special thanks to Matt Lurin and the Water of Life Festival for making this sample available.
