This collaboration between Ireland’s Clonakilty Distillery and Manor Hill Brewing in Maryland puts Clonakilty’s whiskey into Manor Hill’s Baltic Porter beer casks for six months after originally being matured in ex-Bourbon barrels. The nose is dry with a hint of sawdust and touches of honey, vanilla, caramel, hops, citrus fruits, and milk chocolate. The taste has a good balance of spices and citrusy tartness with chili peppers, lemon, and lime notes, while hints of honey, vanilla, and caramel come out as the spices fade. The finish is long with lingering spices and citrusy tartness. Very nice! (March, 2021)
