Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
Berry Bros. & Rudd bottled this 26-year-old ex-Sherry cask of Glenlivet in 2009 for the German market, and I received a sample shortly after that. However, it wound up being lost in my sample collection until recently. Since the sample bottle had been sealed with tape, the whisky inside had been unaffected by time…fortunately.
The nose practically screams Christmas cake fruitiness, along with fig cookies, molasses, and hints of honey and oak. The taste is thick and mouth-coating with baking spices, dark fruits, honey, vanilla, barley sugar, and a touch of oak tannins. The finish is long and oaky with a lingering touch of spice. Outstanding! (July, 2021)
