It’s hard to believe this ex-Oloroso cask was allowed to mature for 27 years without someone deciding to bottle it sooner, but I’m glad everyone at GlenDronach waited until Rachel Barrie selected it! The nose is mellow and gentle, but still very complex with touches of molasses, dates, berry cobbler, chocolate-covered cherries, raisins, and subtle spices. The taste comes on slowly, but doesn’t disappoint at all with a well-balanced combination of dark fruits, dates, figs, black cherries, and gentle baking spices. The finish is long, gentle, and well-balanced. Outstanding! (March, 2021)
