Type: Rye Whiskey

Bottler: Sagamore Spirit Distillery

ABV: 45%

Score: 92 Points

This Rye was created in collaboration with Sierra Nevada Brewing in California, which used Sagamore Spirit barrels to mature its Red Ale beer, then sent the ale-seasoned barrels back to Baltimore for use in finishing this whiskey. The nose has notes of rye bread, baking spices, molasses cookies, honeycomb, and a touch of oak. The taste has good spicy notes of cinnamon and clove, along with molasses cookies, and hints of hops, barley sugar, and honey in the background. The finish is long and well-balanced. (February, 2021)
