This is one of a growing number of “Empire Rye” whiskies from New York State’s craft distillers, and the category requires the use of New York-grown rye. The nose has hints of dill and garden herbs, honey, brown sugar, caramel, and muted spices. The taste has a nice balance of baking spices, rye bagels, honey, brown sugar, and a touch of oak. The finish is long and spicy with a nice balance of sweeter notes in the background. (May, 2021)
