Stauning Rye Whisky. Photo ©2021, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media. This Danish Rye whisky is made with 70% floor malted rye from Stauning’s own floor maltings, along with 30% malted barley, and matured for three years in new American oak casks. The nose has notes of baking spices, leather, a nice touch of rye bread, and honey. The taste is thick and spicy with cinnamon, clove, allspice, a touch of licorice, anise, honey, and molasses. The finish lingers nicely with licorice and anise notes on top of subtle spices underneath. (June, 2021)
