Compass Box Magic Cask 2020 Edition. Image courtesy Compass Box.This is the second Compass Box expression to carry the Magic Cask name, with the first being an exclusive 2006 release for Canada’s Liquor Control Board of Ontario. The 2020 edition includes some four-year-old whisky from an Oloroso Sherry cask blended with vintage ex-Bourbon barrels from the now-demolished Imperial Distillery in Speyside. The nose has notes of red apples, peaches, honey, dried flowers, vanilla, and a hint of chocolate. The taste is fruity and vibrant with a nice touch of allspice underneath while honey and a hint of dark chocolate add balance and character. The finish is long, well-balanced, and complex. Excellent!
