Firestone & Robertson TX Experimental Rye Whiskey. Image courtesy Firestone & Robertson. This 100% rye whiskey was bottled after 4 years and 5 months of maturation, but what makes it even more unique is that it was distilled from a mashbill of 85% rye and 15% malted rye. The nose is spicy and dry with hints of molasses and ginger snap cookies, honey, vanilla, and a hint of oak. The taste has clove, cinnamon, and ginger balanced nicely by molasses and brown sugar notes underneath, while the finish is long with gently fading spices and a touch of brown sugar. (July, 2020)
