Glendalough 17 Irish Single Malt Whiskey. Image courtesy Glendalough Distillery. This Irish single malt spent its first 15 years in ex-Bourbon barrels, with the final two years in Japanese Mizunara Oak casks. The nose has a good maltiness with touches of lemon zest, butterscotch, and vanilla. The taste is tart and peppery with lemon pepper and a custard creaminess, along with touches of vanilla, caramel, and a hint of allspice. The finish is long and fruity with a lingering spiciness. Very nice! (May, 2020)
