Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
The folks at Phillips Brewing & Malting in Victoria, British Columbia have been supplying local distillers with malted barley for years and make some pretty good beer, too. They added a small distillery known as the “Fermentorium” several years ago, and this is their first whisky.
The nose has a malty, buttery aroma with hints of butterscotch, caramel, anise, and honey. The taste is fruity with a good maltiness and notes of orange peel, strawberries, anise, and butterscotch. The finish is long and fruity with subtle spices and a touch of maltiness. It’s young, but still well worth drinking! (February, 2020)
