J.P. Wiser's NHL Alumni Series: Dave Keon Edition. Image courtesy Corby Spirit & Wine. The NHL Alumni Series honors Canada’s hockey legacy with unique whiskies created by master blender Dr. Don Livermore and retired NHL legends, with part of the proceeds from each bottle going to the NHL Alumni Association to help retired players. Livermore created this edition with 1986 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Dave Keon, and in honor of his #14, this is a 14-year-old whisky matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon, Virgin Oak, and barrels previously used for Canadian Whisky and Speyside Malt whisky. The nose is aromatic and woody with hints of dark chocolate, maple, and honey, along with touches of espresso and toasted caramel. The taste has a good balance and complexity with notes of toasted caramel, baking spices, espresso, cocoa powder, and oak. The finish is long, subtle, and woody with touches of espresso and spice.
