Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This single cask bottling spent 24 years in an Oloroso Sherry butt, and the nose is smooth, relaxing, and subtle with notes of dried fruits, toffee, figs, a touch of honey, and a hint of oak tannins for a slightly savory character. The taste belies the nose, though…it’s beefy and assertive with great spicy notes of clove, cardamom, white pepper, and a hint of ginger root complemented nicely by a citrusy tartness with touches of orange peel, pineapple, and toasted coconut. Water brings out the fruitiness even more on the palate, while the finish has lingering spices, citrusy tartness, and a hint of toasted coconut. Wow! (October, 2019)
