Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
Longtime single malt lovers may remember the 2006 release of The Balvenie Roasted Malt, which was distilled in 1992 using a heavily roasted batch of malted barley. Malt Master David Stewart held back some of that whisky at the time, and it’s being released now as part of The Balvenie’s “Stories” range.
The nose has notes of dark fruits, toasted oak, gentle spices, and a hint of honey. The taste has a great balance of fruity tartness, spices, and oak with hints of orange, baking spices, and brown sugar. The finish is long and subtle with hints of oak, dried fruits, and gentle spices. Outstanding! (June, 2019)
