Sagamore Spirit Double Oak Rye Whiskey. Image courtesy Sagamore Spirit Distillery. This straight rye whiskey started out at MGP, and was matured for four years before being filled into a new charred oak barrel at Sagamore Spirit in Baltimore, Maryland for final maturation. The nose is oaky and dry with notes of caramel, honey, brown sugar, molasses, and subtle spices. The taste is thick and spicy with clove, cinnamon, allspice, and a hint of ginger balanced nicely by honey, vanilla, brown sugar, and molasses. The finish is medium-length and well-balanced with subtle lingering spices and a nice touch of honey sweetness. (April, 2018)
