Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
Don’t try to find this one – except perhaps at an auction site. Just 582 bottles were produced from a single ex-Sherry cask from an undisclosed Speyside distillery for sale through The Whisky Exchange on “Black Friday” in November, and every one was sold within a couple of hours.
The nose has notes of dried fruits with apricot, apples, banana chips, and orange marmalade, along with subtle spices, a nice oakiness, and a touch of licorice that comes out over time. The taste is fruity and intense with Christmas cake, allspice, ginger, orange marmalade, a touch of clover honey, and toasted oak. The finish is long with baked fruits and a soft oakiness. Excellent!
