Image courtesy Dewar's/Bacardi.This 2017 release replaces the no-age-statement Dewar’s Signature at the top end of the Dewar’s range, and is actually a triple-matured blend. The traditional Dewar’s blending process calls for the whisky to go back into casks for a second round of maturation after blending, but with this edition, the whisky is finally filled into freshly-emptied Royal Brackla single malt casks for a final round of maturation before bottling.

The resulting blend has a buttery nose with just a whiff of pepper, along with banana, coconut, and vanilla notes. The taste is complex, with a nice creaminess underneath a peppery touch on top for an overall buttery, thick mouthfeel with notes of vanilla, banana, coconut, ginger, and dried fruits. The finish is long, gentle, and complex. An outstanding example of the blender’s art! (September, 2017)
