Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This single malt comes from Taiwan’s second distillery, the Nantou Distillery operated by the government-owned Taiwan Tobacco & Liquor, and is matured in ex-Bourbon casks. The nose has notes of barley sugar, straw, vanilla, honey, coconut, and kiwi fruit. The taste is light and fruity with ginger and cinnamon spices on top of kiwi, orange peel, and mango notes along with hints of brown sugar, vanilla, and honey. The finish is long with gently fading spices and lingering fruity notes in the background.
Note: This photo shows a commemorative bottling of Nantou Omar, though the whisky remains the same as the standard bottling.
