Method and Madness Single Malt Irish Whiskey. Image courtesy Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard.This is one of the few single malts ever released by Irish Distillers, and while it’s part of Midleton’s Method and Madness range, it was originally distilled at Bushmills when that distillery was part of Irish Distillers and Midleton’s Dave Quinn was the head distiller. It was first matured in ex-Bourbon barrels, then some of the whiskey was “enhanced” with time in French Limousin Oak casks before blending and bottling.

The nose is malty and dry with a touch of nuttiness and subtle hints of oak and straw. The taste is malty and slightly sweet with honey and barley sugar balancing nice allspice and cinnamon notes, vanilla, and a hint of graham crackers. The finish is long and fades away gently with a hint of oak and a slight nuttiness. Very nice! (March, 2017)
