Glenmorangie Bacalta. Image courtesy Glenmorangie. The 2017 release in Glenmorangie’s Private Edition range, first matured in ex-Bourbon barrels and then finished in casks seasoned with Malmsey Madeira wine. The nose is fruity with a good maltiness and notes of apricots, fresh peach pie, shortbread cookies, white chocolate, and dark honey. The taste is vibrant, fruity, and complex with peach pie, apricots, chocolate mint, honey, dates, figs, a touch of marzipan, dark honey, and subtle spices. The finish is long and syrupy-thick with subtle citrus and orchard fruits. Excellent! (December, 2017)
