Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This whiskey from Washington, DC’s Joseph A. Magnus & Co. gets its start at MGP in Indiana, but when it reaches the nation’s capital, it goes into a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez ex-Sherry casks for finishing. The result is a Bourbon with a fruity nose and notes of grilled peaches, baked apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, vanilla, and a soft oakiness. The taste has a thick mouthfeel with plums and other dark fruits, along with spices that develop slowly with a good pepperiness, clove, and a touch of nutmeg. The finish is long, dry, and slightly astringent with lingering spices, honey, and touches of dark fruits. (September, 2016)
