Magnus & Co. gets its start at MGP in Indiana, but when it reaches the nation’s capital, it goes into a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez ex-Sherry casks for finishing. The result is a Bourbon with a fruity nose and notes of grilled peaches, baked apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, vanilla, and a soft oakiness. The taste has a thick mouthfeel with plums and other dark fruits, along with spices that develop slowly with a good pepperiness, clove, and a touch of nutmeg. The finish is long, dry, and slightly astringent with lingering spices, honey, and touches of dark fruits. (September, 2016)
