Hankey Bannister Regency 12 Years Old. Image courtesy Inver House Distillers. This blend comes from whiskies matured in ex-Bourbon barrels, and the nose is fruity with red apples, mango, papaya, coconut, vanilla, and a touch of mint – with no sign of what’s to come on the palate. The first sensation is a good smokiness with grilled pineapple that doesn’t overpower fresh mango and apple fruitiness along with coconut, vanilla, and oak. The finish has a great balance between smokiness and fruity notes with lingering grilled pineapple and apple notes. Excellent! (April, 2015)
