Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
Fewer than 9,000 bottles of this 100% Rye Canadian classic were released in 2011, and along with the Canadian Club 30-year-old released in 2008, this ranks as one of the oldest Canadian whiskies ever made available for sale. The nose is rich with soft, muted spicy notes of allspice and clove balanced by honey, vanilla, and a whiff of maple. The taste is rich, thick, and spicy with clove, allspice, and a hint of cinnamon, with the same honey, maple, and vanilla notes from the nose providing a nice balance. The finish is dry, lingering, warm, and slightly peppery. Outstanding! (January, 2015)
