This is the 7th annual release in the Parker’s Heritage Collection series, and has a very special story. In early 2013, Heaven Hill announced that Master Distiller Parker Beam had been diagnosed with ALS, and that this year’s Parker’s Heritage Collection edition would help raise funds for the ALS Association. Parker selected the casks for the 10-year-old Promise of Hope Bourbon from his favorite spots in the Heaven Hill rickhouses and bottled them at his preferred strength of 48% ABV.
The nose is smooth with notes of oak, allspice, vanilla, cocoa, and leather notes with a hint of baked apples. The taste is thick and peppery with honey, clove, licorice, and a touch of fresh berries in the background. The finish is aromatic and smooth with lingering pepper and clove notes, hints of berries and vanilla. Excellent! (August, 2013)
