Single Malt from Grain to Glass at Canada’s Shelter Point Distillery
In the old days, distilleries were almost always part of a farm, since farmers would distill their excess grain to make some extra money. Some craft distillers are reviving that heritage, including Patrick Evans and Jim Marinus of Shelter Point Distillery on Canada’s Vancouver Island. They’ve been distilling and maturing single malt whisky for the last couple of years and waiting for it to mature, while running the Evans family farm full-time and using the distillery to host weddings and other events.
